Editorial standards
PeptideIndex exists because peptide information online is split between vendor marketing that overstates rodent data and clinical sources that decline to engage at all. We maintain 12 peptide profiles and 14 study summaries under a fixed set of rules.
Our evidence grading scale
Every peptide profile carries one of these grades. It describes the strength of the evidence, not our opinion of the compound.
- FDA-approved
- Approved by a major regulator for a human indication, with published Phase III data.
- Phase III
- Large randomized human trials completed or underway; efficacy established, approval pending.
- Phase II
- Randomized human data exists but sample sizes are modest or replication is limited.
- Phase I
- Human safety and pharmacokinetic data only. No efficacy endpoints.
- Preclinical
- Animal or in-vitro evidence only. No controlled human trials. Translation is unproven.
- Anecdotal
- User reports and vendor claims with no controlled data of any kind.
Sourcing rules
Claims are traced to peer-reviewed literature, trial registries, or primary regulatory documents. Where the only available evidence is a single unreplicated study, we say so on the page rather than in a footnote.
We report the doses used in published studies because omitting them makes a reference site useless. Those figures are descriptions of research protocols, never recommendations, and every profile states this explicitly.
Review cadence
Each profile shows a review date. An automated weekly sweep of trial registries, regulatory publications, and the peptide literature flags changes for editorial review, so the tracker reflects current status rather than the date it was written.
Corrections
If a citation is wrong or a regulatory status is out of date, we correct the page and note the change. Accuracy is the only reason a reference site gets cited.
